Our journey as believers involves breaking down of strong forces – both physical and spiritual – that are keeping us from receiving sight.

These forces are real and they are the reasons why children of God suffer affliction. Affliction of ignorance, affliction of unbelief, affliction of sickness, affliction of addiction, among other afflictions will need different suitable encounters for them to be pulled down.

And so we need constant renewal of our minds in the word of God that we – from time to time – will continue to pull down the various strongholds of afflictions.

What was the problem of Saul? Why was he persecuting the church? Because, he was afflicted with blindness. His blindness came by the virtue of a prophetic pronouncement upon his people.

Mathew 13:14~In them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled: ‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.

Saul was not satisfied with the killing of Stephen and imprisonment of the servants of God in Jerusalem. He took permission from the priests to go down to Damascus in a bid to continue his persecution of Jesus.

But, he would not get to Damascus until he encountered Jesus for he could not see. And as the light of the Lord flashed upon his eyes, he fell down. And then he realized that he could not see.

And while Saul had prayed for three days without eating or drinking anything, Jesus spoke to Ananias Acts 9:11~ The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying.

Ananias laid his hand on Saul and then he received light and his affliction was lifted. And for the first time in his life, he could see. The affliction – inform of a scale – had fallen off his eyes.

You may have to take a look at the afflictions you are struggling with. God has given us grace to climb the ladder of healing and today might be the day to shrug off that which has prevented you from getting more of God.

You may need to pray for a requisite encounter that will break down shackles of sin which has afflicted you. Be honest with God and pray for His mighty hand upon your life.

May you receive grace for an encounter that the strong hold of afflictions be pulled down in your life. Amen.
