You cannot tempt him for a show of power or signs and wonders. The power of God is spontaneous and consistent and so has it been transferred to us.
Unfortunately, many are not aware of their powers. Many are also aware of it but not disciplined enough to access it, while few know and access the powers but making use of a fraction of it.
A more disturbing thing is that demons are fully aware of who Jesus is. They recognize him but human beings suffer unbelief and so they become subject to demonic powers.
What did the bible say? Mark 3:11~ And when the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.
It took the influence of God in heaven for the first man (Peter) to confess who Jesus was. Lack of knowledge gives edge to the devil. One time I was in a dream where I saw my self being tormented by evil spirit. I was so dominant because I was not afraid and was attacking the spirit anywhere it appeared until I discovered that I could not get hold of it. In a while I became afraid and then the spirit of God came with a word of knowledge, it was like, ‘have you forgotten so quick? Is this not one of the captivated captivity?’ And immediately while still in the dream I closed my eyes and commanded the demon by the power in the name of Jesus and it left.
Even (Jesus) while on the same scene where unclean spirits were making their confessions the scribes were accusing him of using the power of Beelzebub to cast out demons. This was how ineffective human learning is because the secretes of the earth are not revealed in whatever academic affiliations a man is into but by consecration in the learning of the knowledge and powers of God.
What is important is knowing the power of God and having the temerity to apply it everyday of your life. The power of God is what drives the work of God, be it holiness, sanity, understanding, wisdom, faith, love, long suffering, and even believe, among others. This power is not exhaustive.
The application of the power of God is why we move by faith, and not by sight; application of the power of God is why the gifts of God are active in our lives. Do not continue to think that you must see signs and wonders before you know that the power of God is at work in you. Men who look for signs and wonders have eyes but they cannot see; they could hear but could not understand. Romans 1:20~For ever since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through His workmanship [all His creation, the wonderful things that He has made], so that they [who fail to believe and trust in Him] are without excuse and without defense.
Believing in his eternal powers through the revelation of things which are visible is the preliminary but not the main approach to accessing the power of God. Knowing and confessing Jesus as the son of the living God gives you the temerity to accessing the power of God. That is why after the confession of Peter, Jesus was marveled and then called him rock unto which his church will be built and the gate of hell cannot prevail against it; which means no power from anywhere can shift it.
