Here lies one thing we seem not to pay attention to; ‘prayer and fasting’. It was ridiculous when someone was tempted to ask me if prayer really works.

Giving our all to God in exchange of peace can be proclaimed by our mouth but will not find expression until we learn to pray on an established pattern. Otherwise, we may just be about our own businesses, giving it all the time and energy and packing up all the aggression and restlessness while believing we do have peace.

One source of sustainable peace is prayer. Humility and submission to God is justified in the place of prayer. Hope, faith and believe are justified in the place of prayers. Prayer reserves the ability to move the pressure away from you and leave you wholly peaceful.

Philippians 4:6-7~Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

We may desire to be peaceful but because we are bore in a body that desires much of what can disrupt our peace we may never get the fullness of this peace. Jesus says of the disciples; the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak~Mathew 26:41.

Fasting keeps you in charge of your body. When we fast, we kill a lot of desires for things that make us restless. Through fasting we become more equipped to command the programs of the earth.

In the study of Kung fu (Chinese fighting teachings), everyone desires what is called ‘inner peace’. People with inner peace are considered the strongest. This inner peace is a product of a long time meditation with little or no food.

You are not called to be extremely religious, but a simple pattern of morning prayers and maybe fasting a day out of seven days can reflect a great spiritual dimension that will orchestrate peace in your life.

It is important to know that without peace, we cannot function effectively. To face any task, there is need to be peaceful. Being peaceful keeps you conscious and discerning while fasting reserves a lot of aggression willing to combat any evil.

When the disciples inquired of him why they could not cast out demon Jesus said this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting’~Mark 9:29.

With a good pattern of prayer and fasting, there is not going to be any form of demonic affliction causing unrest in your soul. You are covered by the power of the almighty God. This is an experience you can enjoy. If only we can replace our times of worries with prayers, we can be peaceful always.

May God give you the grace to a pattern of prayer and fasting.
