Confessing Jesus as our Lord and personal savior could be so easy if one will reduce the complexity of his thinking thereby casting away the unbelieving spirit. The children would not think much and while Jesus was healing the blind and the lame, they saw it and that was all they needed to confess crying and saying Hosanna to the son of David. (Mathew 21 v 14-15).

Jesus had made a triumphant entry into Jerusalem and upon getting to the temple, He scattered the goods of the traders and the money exchange merchants among others who had turned the temple of God into a merchandise arena. He had as well healed a blind and a lame in the temple.

When those who were sophisticated enough came (Scribes and chief priests), they saw all the wonderful things Jesus did but one thing had got them doubting. It was something they would consider a threat that the multitude(babes) had recognized Jesus as the son of David who would come to them as the Lord according to prophecies.

These people are not just there because of unbelief but something is threatening their comfort. They had been crafty and in all forms had replaced the authorities of God with the authorities of men that they may be comfortable in their executions. They knew the prophecies but they would rather kill the prophets; they know the God’s way but they would rather have their way. But God had given the power of his praise to the infants who had confessed without doubt the son-ship of Jesus and the elders feared they would be stoned to death if they attacked him. Mathew 21 v 15; and when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did and the children crying in the temple and saying Hosanna to the son of David; they were sore displeased, v 16 and said unto him, hearest thou what these children say? And Jesus said unto them, yea; have ye never read? Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou has perfected praise. In the book of Psalms 8 v 2 it says “Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.”

The power of his praise is upon the children hence the scribes and chief priests were silenced and would not attack him; for they feared the children/multitude/babes that they might stone them to death.

The children had been a point of reference for Jesus on a couple of occasions before this moment. Matthew 18v2-5″And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven”. Mathew 18 v 10 “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven”.

Nobody on earth who is an adult has as much peace as the children. The flow of life and discernment of the invisible through the visible is hyperactive in them. This is due to less worries and zero expectations. The Jewish expectations of Christ were so different from what Jesus was but the records and prophecies were right. When Jesus says that the kingdom of heaven is for people like these(children), he practically mean people whose hearts are tender and so free from expectations and worries. We have got to flow with the will of God in our lives in order to activate the sovereignty of his praise and the powers of his defense. Your own will are important but can only manifest after the praise of God is made sovereign in your lips.

I speak to somebody today; you need to ignore those things you worry about; those things that steal your peace by giving you too many expectations, and pursue God’s sovereignty. Open up your heart for Jesus, confess his power for the traditions and expectations of men had made the power of God of no effect.
