For every type of lifestyle, there is an underlying philosophy. People are developed more often by what they see than what they read and so the world is in a frantic race; everyone pushing towards what they see to get a taste of it before the dark hours. You may be lucky enough to have someone who will leave his/her career to focus on building your own career for you. Lateef – a 60 year old man who was interested in seeing his child Balogun succeed in the game of Tennis – while sitting at the side of the tennis court in Lagos made an important observation about success. Explaining to his son he said, “you can be successful all you want but success does not ride on focus alone, else you will be as useless as an unsuccessful person”. A little bit confusing to the 16 year old but without wasting no time Lateef continued to say that the most important of all success stories is the successes which your success provoked. Anybody who dreams may have had a picture of the world he wants in his mind but in reality such pictures are mere dreams that your lifetime may not be enough to achieve; but yes! they are achievable. There are people who by virtue of destiny discerned on time how to balance focus with God and they achieved their dreams; not too quick or too slow but just in time. The destiny process requires in primordial phase, an awareness of God which breeds a mentality that will not keep you so attached to the treasures of your success. I watched Mike Tyson the infamous boxing champion on one of his Instagram reels looking at his tittles and admitting that they do not make him feel any special. ‘It was all good the time it was won but now nothing’. Mike could sell them off and raise money or even keep them in a museum but these are treasures that have stayed past their relevance in the mind of the owner. God is the greatest satisfaction you can get at the end of any career knowing that to your best of practice you have served him with much of the allocation of life which he gave you on earth. You may choose not to give chance to the sorrows of the last days when your works are done. Being exposed to Jesus at the beginning of every career is an advantage that offers you a prophetic demonstration of what your final days will look like; either satisfied or unsatisfied. Setting our priorities right before or even on the course of success has been what Jesus was trying to teach you during your times of delay and waiting. If you allow impatience and greed to be your motivator, you can become a toxic personality although successful. Building your career to salvage the people and making it a little more easier for aspiring young population to achieve success is the most successful success anyone can achieve. Nevertheless, most people’s eyes are on the trophy focusing more on the treasures than the people and then it became a competition and things that could have been achievable with ease and simple mastery became stressful and threatening. The rich young man could not imaging giving all his wealth to the poor because those are his treasures and an evidence of what he had struggled to do all the days of his life, therefore, he left sorrowful. Following this Jesus says “it is very difficult for a wealthy man to get into the kingdom of God”. God does not forbid you from dreaming and focusing on your career but he demands that you store up your treasures where thieves and termites and mots cannot attack or destroy them. Whatever you do for the sake of God is registered for your relief in the last days of your life. Learning to store up your treasures in heaven can be easy at the beginning of your life. There is going to be a time when you will want this perfect and eternal life but your heart cannot stand loosing all you have. But following Jesus on time attracts His blessings which will make you rich without sorrows. Share your ideas with us in the comments and fill in your e mails to get alerts of our podcasts.
