It was Sunday morning and Josephine at her late 30s was preparing for a service that would last untill 4:pm and Chidi a boy next door couldn’t wonder why she was so dedicated to such harsh schedule. Who cares it’s her choice, “left for me I am never going to be in church for so long” he would taunt.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Josephine was highly considered religious and was always criticized for her relentless effort in attending all church programs. She would make up a day and gather all children to teach them bible stories. On the course of teaching, she would get a call that most of the time swings her mood from jovial to sober; it was Aho who was sick at that moment. Aho was her immediate elder sister who became bedridden for a complex situation that eventually led to her death. Jose had had her two other elder sisters die from similar situation and the death of Aho could mean that the cycle had gotten to her turn. She would concentrate on the children for the moment afterwards biscuits and groundnuts are shared.
Not long from that day, the actual news of Aho’s demise was broken. Would Josephine cry or just hold her peace? What questions could be asked that wasn’t asked? Where indeed would she go from thence? Her alter kept burning in diverse tongues at mid nights but her heart was troubled. What was it? Sins and demonic affiliations of the parents; a covenant that must be fulfilled. A glimpse of fire which she discovered at her youthful stage as a church girl was all it took. Challenging the alters of demonic protocols was her midnight quest. (Are you aware of this situation in your life but still enjoys your sleep with your spiritual husband? Please wake up and catch fire).
On the forth night before the death of Aho, Jose had a terrible vision. In her vision, she and Aho were drowning in a mighty ocean but she managed to look up while inside the water to behold a floating green leaf. She reached for the leaf and her face was up. “What kind of leaf is this?” she asked as she came out of the vision. It was then she had confirmed that Jesus had broken the demonic protocol.
Could it be that Aho was not praying? Was Josephine not praying for Aho? Well they both prayed; Faith comes by hearing and power of God is made manifest only according to the level of your faith. It is an act of faith that man could be awake to pray while he could be enjoying his sleep. It is an act of faith that man prioritizes persistent punctuality to church against all odds. God is not looking at your tears because he knows that if they are real, you will show it in consistency of worship and long-suffering.
Someone may have to wake up and serve God with his/her life.
