Romans 12:17-21~Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.

On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

This is usually the part of Christianity where most people found bizarre. Someone may ask, how can I pray for my enemies? How can I be so nice to those who are treating me bad?

Well, we really need to come to a point in our lives where we can say “anything o God”. This was the ideology that created the martyrs of first and second centuries. It was also upon their example that this faith was strengthened.

Reacting so much to external enmity in a way means giving your oppressors more reasons to keep persecuting you. Our work is soul winning; if we may not have the courage to preach Jesus, at least, let our peaceful composure do the preaching.

The mystrey of kingdom expansion has always been persecution from the times of old.

James 1:2~My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

Romans 12:12-14~Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

Meditation

O Jesus, give me the strength to endure afflictions. Let me find the realm that accompanies the understanding to love my enemies and bless my persecutors.
